Ahh ..., but Apple did provide a conversion!  The Dos3.3 version of
AppleWriter //e had a utility for converting (binary) AppleWriter][ files
to (text) AppleWriter //e files.  All ProDOS based AppleWriters used text
files like the Dos3.3 AppleWriter //e.  I can't answer why the conversion
option was only included on the one version of AppleWriter //.

If the Appleworks WP method doesn't work, find (buy used) the Dos3.3
AppleWriter //e version.  Good luck!
