um, yeah..
..i've got a 300baud modem, just like the one you're describing..
and it has the same prong-configuration as you've described, so barring the
possibility of some creepy coincidence, i'm going to have to say it's made
that way.

However,.. ..if you could help me out..
..this modem i got, i received with a ][e but neither came with any
literature.  I'm semi familiar with basic apple ][ usage, but the modem has
me stumped.  If you have any info on running the modem or any programs that
you use to run the modem, could you send them this way? it'd be much
appreciated.
