Re: IIGS clock -- which chip is it?

Taking David Wilson's advice, I measured voltages on the no-slot-clock and
found 1.5 volts between the two points on the ASCII art of the chip, shown
below:

  28-pin wide __________________________________________________________
     chip | |
                | |
  No-SLOT | |
  CLOCK | |
                | _|___|____|____|____|___|___|____|_ |
        notch \ | | |
                / \ | |

                | O O | | |
                | |_________________________________| |
voltage: | | | | | | | | | |
 1.5 volts DC | O O |
                | * neg * pos |
                |________________________________________________________|

The "bad" NSC even shows 1.3 volts beteen the two points, so I will try
that unit on a diofferent IIe before getting involved in soldering tiny
wires.

What 1.5 volt battery is recommended??? Lithium is always 3 volts, right?
How about an AG-13 calculator battery??? Should it be a ni-cad
rechargeable battery????
Thanks David Wilson for your advice.

Bye, Steve.
