Drop Info (a freeware Mac application) solved that problem for me.  I simply
changed the Zip disk volume back to visible.  I also used the Fast Find
application from
the Norton Utilities bundle and did the same thing again using it with complete
success to make the Zip disk volume visible again.

If you don't have these and need them - please let me know!
