This technique has been used for many years to retore the color in
antique vintage black hard rubber fountain pens from the 1910,s and
1920,s. However, it has a tendancy to etch the surface and change the
original texture of the plastic. For this reason experienced
collectors will not buy pens after this treatment has been applied.
I don't know if this would occur with an apple case or not.
