Oh, it existed. I filled out one of inCider's reader service cards
after first reading that article in 1993 and got a pamphlet from
Tulin. The reason that few people have it can easily be
explained by the fact that it was priced at some $1300. That's
a lot at the time, but hey AE once sold the 100MB Vulcan
Gold for $1000.
The pamphlet showed the Tulin Optical drive works on
the IIGS, the Amiga, and several other less known systems
as well as Macs and Windows PCs.
The fact that you have a magneto-optical drive from another
maker that has another implementation of SCSI and have
the wrong driver installed causing your IIGS SCSI chain
to malfunction does not change the fact that at least Tulin's
Optical drive worked on the IIGS.
And if you are still doubtful, you could always try emailing
Cameron Crotty. I'm pretty sure I've seen his name on
some Mac publication.
Besides, say inCider was really testing an unreleased unit.
The fact is, that unit WORKED. That's the point.
