Hi, the problem may be the type of utilities.  You are using
the IIe utilities, but you want to use the native IIGS utilities.
ADU to be exact.

System 6.0.1 for the IIGS can be found on the AOL
Apple II Forum.  Just use the following keyword to get
there and click on the Apple Computers link, then the
Apple II Software link:
