As far as cleaning the motherbd, vacuuming/compressed air is probably
the best method. I've also used hot, soapy water and a brush, and then a
rinse and thorough dry. You do want to be cautious of static damage with
the vacuum, and be sure to dry it quickly and thoroughly, if you use
water. BTW, the wave soldering process usually involves washing and
drying.

I usually use alcohol on a swab.
