Help! Quantum SCSI HDD problem on PowerMac

Hello, my name is Duncan. I'm having severe problems with the
aforementioned.
The drive was setup using ETC tools. Everything seemed fine for a while and
then all of a sudden the drive disappeared. I must mentioned here that I
have 3-4Gb of data on the drive which I would quite like back. The drive is
a Fireball SE, which I have recently read have known problems with the write
cacheing. Does anyone know a fix or how to turn the cacheing off. Any help
however small would be appreciated greatly. If you live in Edinburgh,
Scotland I'll even buy you beer!
