Oscillators can come in either metal or plastic cases.  The plastic
ones look like ICs from a distance.  They are functionally
the same.

Tony seems to agree that the TWGS is a better card than the
Zip GS.  ;-)

It is no surprise that the TWGS runs a little faster at the same
Mhz than the Zip GS.  The Zip GS has all the "slow down"
instructions built into the ASIC.  On the TWGS, now that
we have better 65C816 chips, we don't need to use
"slow down" GALs, but the Zip GS has no choice.  Also,
the size of the cache seems to be upgradable by simply
changing the programming of the ROM.  Of course now
that AE is out of business, this advantage is moot....
