reminds me of university professors.  they know enough to get the job,
they hang around, and if they're lucky, they get tenure.  when THAT
happens, everything kinda stagnates.  they teach people about what they
perceive the "Real World" to be like, but they don't have a clue.  the
students hit the Real World thinking they're ready, then realize that
almost everything they've learned is severely outdated or (God forbid)
wrong....  what can be done about it?  not much.  mostly one can prevent
others from making the same mistakes, warning them to avoid the certain
"lame profs" that have been discovered, and encourage people to warn the
university, so that MAYBE that prof will be booted.  but then, there's
that "tenure" thing, which all but guarantees that the prof will remain...

scary thing, eh?
