Help! Help! Help! Help! Please !

A friend gave me an Apple GSII, monitor, cpu, aux panel, two disk drives,
hand help scanner, keyboard, mouse and another box that appears to be a
external hard drive or ??  Anyhow the long and short of it........I attached
all the cables to where they should attach, clicked the on switches and it
fires up sorta....the two disk drives, each flash their little red lights
once, the the screen lights up showing the version number.   Nothing else
happens, the keyboard doesn't function, nor the mouse and the external box
that looks like an external hard drive does not even power up.

Any help or suggestings would be appreciated, I would like to get this puter
going ang given away to a handicap child for christmas.
