Unicode became a standard after the sun set on the Apple II line, so I
know of no support for it. I guess a text driver could be written,
but I suspect that the font manager and other parts of GS/OS would
have be rewritten or modified to support 16-bit characters.
Only now are OS's even supporting Unicode. Windows NT was the first
that I know of with MacOS and Solaris trailing.
Evil as Microsoft is currently (they weren't always evil, only until
they ripped off CP/M), they do have strong I18N support. They also
release a good guide to I18N for developers (they used to give it away
for free along with foreign versions of Windows 3.0).
