Since the release of GS/OS, most of the info in the ROM 01
guide became obsolete. The Apple IIGS Owners Reference
that came with the ROM 3, the one that has 392 pages, is more
applicable.
It shows you everything, from GUI basics to installing drivers
to using laser printers to SCSI basics to hard drives to CD-ROMs
and Video Overlay Genlock cards to the PC Transporter to
AppleTalk.
