     One way to get to BASIC with the usual prompt is to double-click on
BASIC.system from the GS/OS (e.g. System 6.0.1) Finder display. You wll
be in Applesoft with ProDOS-8 as your disk OS.

     If you want to do BASIC programming, the best way to start is to
launch Program Writer (Language Card version). This will get you into
BASIC under ProDOS-8 with the excellent PW editor installed. (You can
LOAD a program to edit or do a NEW and, then, enter && to get into the
editor.)
