MID file problems...

Not too long ago, there was a big debate here about MIDI players, yadda
yadda yadda... anyway, I couldn't help but notice somebody mentioning that
Music Composer can import MID files on its own... Okay, if this is true,
then how come, even thought my preferences are set to allow MID files,
they aren't even displayed on the directory when I try to open or import a
sequence? I have found that I can convert them with MIDIConvert and THEN
load them into Music Composer, but that's the only way... I've also tried
a program called The Music Modifier, but it never seems to work properly
(it crashes both Music Composer and SynthLab when you try to load one of
the conversions it creates) except when converting MID files to
DiversiTune...

Any suggestions/explanations?  Please email me...
