Affirmative -- the //c+ is radically different in many ways from all
previous incarnations of the //c computer, including the style of
connector used for the printer/modem serial ports. The //c+ features
mini-DIN 8-position jacks, whereas the older //c models used the large
5-DIN sockets (I can attest to this personally, as I have owned both
versions). This makes it both similar to the IIGS *and* the Mac systems,
with the obvious exception of the gaudy iMac, in how it hooks up to
serial peripherals.

I've got my own system loaded up with a 1Mb RAM //c+ expansion board, a
genuine Apple Platinum 5.25" external drive, and an ImageWriter II
printer, plus I've acquired one of those funny little Apple modems that
plug directly into the electrical wall outlet (sans software; I'm still
working on that). Space considerations prevent me from upgrading my
dinky little 9" Apple Monitor //c to a decent color model, but apart
from that I enjoy using my A2 setup immensely. With the right add-ons,
you should be similarly pleased with your future //c+ system.
