//c LCD display

I have just obtained two Apple //c LCD display units (one still in
shrinkwrap with manual) and have a few questions.

How rare are these display units?.  When I had my //c back in '84 I
had heard that the LCD display unit for the //c was a forthcomming
item (to aid in portability) but beyond that I didn't hear or see much
about it.  I vaguely remember seeing reviews that these display units
were a disappointment because of their poor contrast and display
properties.

After testing one of these LCD units with my ROM 3 //c I did notice
that the actual display was too dark and the legibiity was poor - even
with adequate room lighting.  My other question is this:  Will these
LCD display units (Model A2M4022) work with a //c+ at all?.

BTW, where can I obtain the ProDOS version of Ascii Express Pro? (yes
I know Proterm 3.1 is better - I still want to evaluate the former
though).
