Comp.sys.apple2 is an Apple II newsgroup.  You should really ask
this question in comp.sys.mac.

However, it is interesting to note that a better version of this idea
was created by a third party for the Apple IIGS and IIe slightly
before this card was released by Apple.

This card probably drove 5.25" MS-DOS drives.

However, the PC Transporter for the Apple II did more than
this.  It actually ran MS-DOS software.  ;-)  It was an early PC
compatibility card, a predecessor of todays' Orange Micro PC
compatibility cards.
