//c serial cable
I'm having no end of difficulty making my own //c serial cable. I've
received several conflicting accounts of the DIN 5 and DB9 pinouts.
The one i'm using is:
9 pins(WHILE LOOKING AT THE PIN SIDE! NOT THE SIDE THAT YOU INSERT THE
WIRES IN!)
1 2 3 4 5
6 7 8 9
5 pins(The same! While looking at the side that goes in the apple not
the side that the wires come out of!)
1 5
2 4
3
Connect the wires like this
9pin 5pin
1 3
Nothing 1
4 2
3 4
9 5
This does not seem to work. It also doesn't seem to agree with other
information i have received. I've tested my cable according to this
wiring and the cable corresponds to the above configuration. Can
anyone refer me to an authoritative solution to this problem? I've
searched the web for this information and the DIN5 wiring pinout is
not included in RS232C information (which is the configuration of an
old Hayes 1200 external that I know worked).
