Why mess with ProDOS? The IIGS under System 6.0.1 can use
(format, read, write, and run software from) an HFS disk just fine
with the HFS FST (equivalent to "HFS File System Init" although
it is not an Init in the IIGS sense).
For your information, the IIGS handles HFS disks a hell of a lot
better and faster than the Mac handles ProDOS disks.
The IIGS can use Mac hard drive, CD-ROM, and Zip disks
formatted HFS too. I hardly ever touch ProDOS anymore.
