Well this is superfluous since you're already in BASIC.

You could throw a PRINT CHR$(4)"PREFIX whatever" and see if it helps.

Well one thing to try as a test is putting a STARTUP file in the directory
and see if it runs. That is assuming you don't just get the BASIC copyright
notice when you run BASIC. If that works, put a BAS file there that runs
when you run BASIC and make the program do the prefix etc.
