There is GEOS, if you can find it. It is a replacement for ProDOS
that includes an integrated GUI. It is compatable with most ProDOS
applications and has some built in productivity apps (word processor,
paint, publishing, etc.).
GEOS came from the C64 universe so it was only logical that they would
do a port to the IIe (since both used essentially the same CPU).
I have only used a very old version of GEOS on the C64, so I can not
vouch for its stability or usefullnes (controlling the pointer with an
Atari joystick was painful). However, I am certain that others in
this group can give you a better testimonial than I ever could.
