Need help Upgrading Vulcan Hard Drives
Last weekend at an Apple II Club meeting
we were discussing the Vulcan Hard Drive.
The user had a 100 meg version. The drive went bad, so he replaced it with
an 80 meg drive. It works fine.
He indicated that he had to examine the formatting software to determine
exactly what drives the interface card could support.
He used Copy II Plus to list the formatting program.
I looked at his interface card.
All the chips looked standard TTL except the following.
I believe I could copy his chips as needed and upgrade my Vulcan.
Has anyone else done this?
If so, please give involved specific details related to the process.
U1 (PAL ?) HDC2C-N (My notes say HDC2A-N, but I think it should be HDC2C-N)
U2 (PAL ?) HDC2A-N
U13 (EPROM) Vl1.2GS100
U16 (PAL ?) HDC1A-N
I have an extra Vulcan Interface Card (I believe it was for a 20 meg Vulcan)
It has the following chips.
U1 (PAL ?) HDC3B-N
U2 (PAL ?) HDC2A-N
U13 (EPROM) VUL.1.4GS20
U16 (PAL ?) HDC1A-N
I'd like to upgrade my 40 meg Vulcan.
Mine has the Vulcan Gold Rom and formatted with the Gold software.
I have a 40 meg version.
