Have you actually tried this?  I have.

Take the RAM card out of your ROM 3 unit.  Boot Delta
Demo.  It runs quite well, up to the 3d apple.  Then it stops.

Kind of funny actually because I first saw Delta Demo
on such a bare bones ROM 3 and I thought that was the
end of the demo!

Actually, FTA claimed it only required 1MB.  Not 1.25MB,
they claimed 1MB.  And it does work, up to a point.

And it does not report an error of any sort.  It just freezes.
