You need the Apple II ProFile interface card, and the cable to connect
it to the drive (a DB-25 straight-through ribbon cable with pin 7 cut
out in each connector).

The ProFile card may require a ROM upgrade to get it to work in a IIgs,
but any version should be fine in the IIe. It has a ProDOS block driver
on the card, so will work automatically with ProDOS (and GS/OS on a
IIgs). It isn't supported by DOS 3.3 (unless someone has written a
patching utility).

Some Apple Pascal tools were available many years ago to "partition" a
ProFile bewteen Pascal and ProDOS, with the ability to subdivide the
Pascal area into multiple logical volumes. The drive can only be used
to boot ProDOS, though. (You would have to boot Pascal from a floppy.)

Note that an unenhanced IIe cannot automatically boot from a ProFILE:
you need to hit Ctrl-Reset to get into BASIC then use PR#n (where n is
the slot).
