Re: Genie and Delphi

You know, I don't read csa2 anymore on a regular basis, I browse every
once in a while then remember why I stopped... The other day a couple
of us were wondering if Genie was still around, so when I saw this
thread I just had to read it.

It boggled my mind.

For starters:

Okay, hmm, lets analyze this statement. Basically it insinuates that
the people who run the file libraries of Genie and Delphi, both
subscrption based services, hide behind their 'for-pay' access to
provide warez for their subscribers. And, shock horror, unlike the
brave souls trying to make older Apple II software available on
anonymous ftps to the poor downtrodden masses in a heroic example of
chivalry, Genie and Delphi are doing it for _money_. Ooo, and of
course it's all a big conspiracy since none of the hardworking
software authors or Internet Guardians of the Apple II flame (hack,
cough) are on these services! They can get away with murder! Long as
you <wink wink nudge nudge> pay your subscription fees, know the right
people, yadda yadda, you're made.

Muwahahahahaha, (falls of chair) oops, erm, excuse me.

Of course, most of the time Usenet proclimations of 'truth' like this
merely go on uncontested, joining the vast parade of noise and light
and hot air. This time however, someone actually dares to respond:
