I'm trying to write a program in GSoft Basic that will play some
simple notes (gotta start somewhere, right?). To play one note
alone, I believe the basic steps would be:
SoundStartup
NSStartup
AllocGen
(Load a waveform into memory)
NoteOn
NoteOff
NSShutdown
SoundShutdown
I think I have most of the parameters to these functions figured out,
along with an instrument-definition file. My problem starts with the
very first line. SoundStartup looks for a (word) address of a page of
memory in Bank 0. I'm assuming I can't just pull a number out of my
a$$, so how do I allocate a page of memory, and pass that reference
in to SoundStartup?
Next little problem is with NSStartup. It requires a pointer to an
interrupt handler. I guess that's so the program that contains this
sound routine can handle interrupts while a note is playing. Do I
have to create a whole interrupt-handling routine, or is there a
pre-existing routine that I can point to?
Finally, I can't seem to find my GsoftTools.int file. I looked in
the system directory, and under my GSoft directories. I may have
missed it, so any non-flame suggestions?
Thanks.
