I don't know about external Superdrives but I've heard that Shreve
Systems <http://www.shrevesystems.com/> sells a Superdrive controller of
some sort. Last I checked it wasn't listed on their website so you'll
have either call them up or send them an email.

As for attaining an external Superdrive I suggest against it. By the
time Apple introduced the Superdrive, external floppies were rare among
new Macs. Since there was a low demand very few were produced so
external superdrives command a premium these days. However, internal
Superdrives are rather common as are external Apple 800k drives. Now, if
one were to place a Superdrive mech in a 800k drive case and attach it
to 800k logic the result would be a homemade external Superdrive at
about half the price of an original. Of course you wouldn't have
Superdrive silkscreened on the front but sometimes life is tough.
