Concerning this CheckWorks Issue: (Was - Re: Where is Aw5???)

I've personally varified that the two tar archives that were on Asimov ftp site
of CheckWorks were either shareware or freeware
that have been available to the public for years now.  Joe Kohn
offered these previous shareware or freeware older versions of CheckWorks with
the new version 5 of CheckWorks, as a commercial bundle from SSII for $20.

That's all fine and dandy by me.  But, I can see no reason legally or otherwise
to demand that older shareware and freeware versions
of CheckWorks (that have no notice of restricted distribution within their
documentation files) should be prohibited for public access and downloads as
archives for use with Apple II emulators or REAL Apple II computers.

IMHO, If the author of such older sharewares and freewares of the program under
discussion (which have been available for years now from other public access
areas on the Internet and on several online services also) wants to place a
restriction on distribution, or a reclassification of his older shareware
and/or freeware versions of the program, then the author should do so promptly
with a public announcement to this newsgroup and all ftp sites, online
services, etc. that continue to make them available.
