I have recently gotten hold of a GS, which consists of ROM 03 m/board
w/1MB, plus drives etc...
I have downloaded the GS/OS 6.01 & a friend has given me some cards.
Wonder if anyone can help with info or advice on this.
One card is the Genuine Apple IIGS Mem card which has 1MB as standard,
so I suspect it's the latest model. When I plugged it in, it seems to cause
an unusual problem. Appleworks will boot up fine & recognise that the
machine now has 2 MB, but getting to the control panel by press
OA-Control-Reset is proving difficult. The screen comes up, but over a
couple of the options, a string of checkerbox marks goes right across. Do
you think I may have a faulty card.? I tried it without the jumper block,
but the machine will not boot after this.
Secondly, I have also acquired a Ramfast SCSI card, which reads 256K Rev
C. I tried selecting your card in the control panel then rebooting, but the
machine would only come up with the start screen & not reset. Swapped to
slot 6 & tried again. Machine will boot from slot 5 on 3.5, but will not
recognise Zip drive plugged in. Zip drive is terminated & sety to ID 5 (ID
6 no better or without termination) I booted GS/OS from floppy, but cannot
get it to recognise the drive to format. The SCSI card has an 8 position
DIP switch, all set to off except 2. Can anyone tell me what this is for or
perhaps where the docs for this card may be found online?
Thanks for help in anticipation.
