Hi Jeff,
First let me say sorry I didn't insert a smiley after "nerdspeak", it was meant
in jest. Secondly, I didn't miss that part, I just disagreed ;o). I view the
world, generally, as text supporting the visuals, not the other way around.

hmm....I disagree again, otherwise my brother-in-laws ferrari would say olio
and agua instead of having icons of thermometer and oil can. ;o)
I still think a picture is worth a thousand words, however, I also believe that
for you and millions like you, the text is the meat. For me and millions like
me, the text is the gravy.

Agreed. Which is why in another post I said, and still maintain, that visual
information is EQUAL in importance to textual information. I think that lynx
is better than nothing, but, having used lynx (and before lynx, gopher) for
years, I believe that lyn
x makes for a one dimensional experience.
If all one can use to get to the web is lynx, go for it, but one should also
realize that it is one dimensional.

See, to me, downloading images (well, this of course depends on the web site)
is not a waste of time at all. When I was researching central air conditioners
this spring, the images gave us an idea how the compressor unit was going to
look in our yard. Gra
nted that may not be the most important thing, but it is important to us,
equally important because the compressors were pretty much the same from
manufacturer to manufacturer. Having to download the images using lynx would
have increased the time needed
at each site (well maybe not, I don't know because I didn't do it that way).
The time needed to download images can be put to productive use if you do
something else while you're on the web. At least that's what I do.

Ok, I accept this argument as is. If the audience needs to be told to spend
lots of money, caveat emptor ;o)

And I will fight to the death your right to express yours.
