Dr. Tom put together a good 'mini-manual' for the Echo card. It is
file R012ECHO.TXT which can be found in the newsgroup FAQs at ...

It's pretty long, so, I'll go ahead and email you a copy.
Regarding the hum you heard. This could just indicate dirty
controls or a bad connection. About the only real problem with using an
Echo on the GS is that it takes up a Slot you may eventually want for
some other board.
