#27 is "I/O Error" meaning it had trouble loading a file or could not
access a volume the computer thinks it is supposed to -- if you are
getting the error as the desktop is coming up, the computer is coming
to a volume that it can't read correctly.  At any other point, it would
be a different error number.

    | Maybe the finder is damaged?

Maybe one of your volumes is damaged.  If it couldn't identify one of
the volumes at all, it would either skip it or it would ask you if you
want to eject or initialize it.  But apparently it can see some volume
as valid but with a bad file allocation table or something.  Your
Finder is fine -- it's what your Finder is not finding that matters.

Error #27 has plagued floppy disk users since the beginning of cyber-
time.  Not often seen on a GS's hard drive but not impervious either.
Has nothing to do with your RAM or the loading of Sys 601 itself --
seems to be what happens *after* it's got everything it needs and goes
looking for the other resources you have on your system.
