I don't have the part number handy for comparison, but that sounds
exactly like one of Apple's LocalTalk drop-boxes.

You need one of these for each device connected to a LocalTalk network,
plus the cables that go between them.

As these boxes and cables are quite expensive, most people go for the
third-party PhoneNet boxes, which use standard telephone cable.

Note that for an ImageWriter II to work on LocalTalk, the printer must
also have the LocalTalk option card installed inside the printer and
enabled.
