software piracy...
Software piracy isn't a good thing, but it's VERY NECESARY for business...
Take a look at Bill Gate's WIN 95: the serial number isn't really a serial
number: it's a combination of 0 and 7's., where you cand find a UNIVERSAL
COMBINATION over the internet for almost every MS product!!! strange, isn't
it?
Another example: WIN '98 upgrade: it just checks if you have ANY microsoft
product installed, not only WIN95...again, strange, isn't it?
Piracy is the way to capture the rest of the market that maybe can't afford
to but an original product... or simply that they don't want to. The goal:
to put the product inside EVERY HOME!!!!...companies count with that, is the
only way to succeed.
Now, going back to Apple ][:
My personal point of view is that Apple made one mistake, a VERY big
mistake:
They were not clone-friendly, when IBM was. When Taiwan started cloning
computers, IBM was much more easier paperwork to do than Apple (the ONLY
MADE IN THE US ones....).
Computer prices went down very quickly year after year because of oriental
cheap labor's hours..
And that's It: you could buy a PC for a lot less money than an Apple.
If you have two good choices, one cheaper than the other, why choose the
expensive one?
One final thing:
I love Apple with all my heart. I have loved It since 1980 (my first
Apple ][ Europlus...)
But maybe my heart is broken...and I just have to live with that.
