I don't think he is.
This brings up a point that I think everyone has consistently missed here.
Nathan didn't wake up one day and decide to start being an asshole. He was
slowly driven to it over the course of a few _years_ by the continual
misadventures of certain regular posters here -- who I'm sure everyone can
identify by now.
Take Dr. Tom for example (Sorry Tom, but you're the best material I have!).
After repeatedly going through the cycle of (a) posting publically that he
was leaving the apple II world, (b) not posting for a while, and (c) then
posting again as if nothing had happened... you'd think people would really
begin to wonder about Tom's sincerity on anything.
But all that matters to most people here is whether or not he _tries_ to
help them out and most of all, his introductory cuddly politeness. If
anyone here deserves the title "most likely to mistaken for a politician"
then it is good ol' Dr. Tom.
Nathan, however, believes very much in the Principles of Truth and Justice
Upon Which Our Great Civilization Was Built. When someone goes back on
their word repeatedly and refuses to own up to it, that's essentially the
biggest possible loss of honor in Nathan's book.
But even though Nathan was technically in the right on that issue, no one
cared. That's what Nathan couldn't handle -- the total absence of respect
for law that this place has finally come to represent.
