Bump it up to 4MB at least and a hard drive.

Yes; with the Apple High Speed SCSI card or the Ramfast card,
you can connect zip or sparq drives. I've even tried a Jazz drive
on the GS with the Apple High Speed card...works great! You
need either of these SCSI cards...the CMS one won't do...

No special scsi driver, just the scsihd driver that comes with
System 6.0.1 for Apple's card and Ramfast driver for Ramfast.
However, it might be cheaper just to buy a Focus hard drive.
http://www.allelec.com/ sells the Sirius memory card. Click
on "Apple II" and then "Memory"...get the 4MB config or 8MB.
You can get less memory and install your own 1MB SIMM if
you have...
Click on "Hard Drive" to see the Focus hard drive. For $59,
you get the OS and freewares and sharewares plus the
drive.
http://www.sequential.com/ Sequential Systems has the
Ramfast SCSI card. You can find the Apple HS card used
...that's the one I have and it is really great with a Zip or Jazz.
