FWIW, I happen to have downloaded the entire FAQ from his site a couple of
months ago and indeed still have a copy and even backups! However, if he
really owns the copyright on those FAQs, then I guess I can't post it.
However, my understanding is that he took existing FAQs from the previous FAQ
holder and added his own modifications. Still, his modifications are his own.
Like someone else mentioned, we could go back to the pre-Mates FAQs and start
from there. However, it is comforting to know that they are preserved for
posterity's sake.
In my ever humble opinion, my own little insigificant take on this whole
fiasco, I must say the line about him wiping everything from his HD and
backups really told me he flipped his lid. I don't know the precise events
that led up to it (as someone else said, there is always one little thing
that presses the final trigger to send someone over the edge), but from
reading his posts the last three to four years he wouldn't say that unless he
really did it. Wild. Bizarre.
He should marry, settle down, have kids and mellow out. That or just roll up
a big fat hooter (just kidding! =). To have accomplished such a pyrrhic
victory is little comfort indeed. To immolate or sacrifice oneself's for
country or God is quite understandable. But for a hobby, a passion, a
harmless pasttime? Perspective is required here.
That is a sign of a fanatical mind gone bad and it really is a shame indeed.
Obviously, he will regret it if he lives long enough. My boy done wigged out
as Pogo would have put it...
