Help with Apple II+ and Disk ][

Please help.  I have an Apple II+ with a Language Card and the
isk ][ controller
in it.  I have 3 CPUs, 2 Disk drives and 3 controller cards.  I keep trying
different combos because I cant seem to get any of them to work properly.
They will read a disk but then the next day it doesnt read the disk.  I have
tried many differenent disk. Do I need do clean the drives?  If so how.  Do
I need to adjust the drives?  If so how?  Is there a simple basic program I
can type in to test the CPU and Language card?   This is driving me nuts.
