I have just stumbled over your question during a short visit to
csa2. Not much time due to personal problems to maintain my Apple II
services, but enough time to help you out of this situation.

You are right, you need a shell, but the APW alias Orca shell is not
the only alternative. Try GNO/ME from Procyon. It should allow you
to launch EXE files and has some features which are not in Orca
(e.g. multitasking).

Only two years ago, Nathan would have branded you and me as a worthless
pirating scum for the hint above. Fortunately, the author has
reclassified this great program as freeware, so Nate has to preserve
his unique black and white judgement scheme for other opportunities.

In fact, Jawaid Bazyar, the author of GNO/ME is a living example of
a person who is a very good (!) programmer AND who does not act like a
crazy jerk. He is a very helpful person who has set up an alternative
#apple2 IRC chat channel at irc.hypermall.com and you may choose to
buy another Procyon title from him if you want to support him.

Hope this helps. Sorry, if I'm not much around in csa2 in the next
week(s), but life has been a little tough for me in the past. But
