Why do graphics artists, writers, ect. have to know all the intricacies of
the software & hardware interaction occurring in their computers?

Just because you're human should you have to know exactly how your body ticks
in order to utilize it? Of course not!

I despise ignorance, and I do believe that the people should know THE BASICS
of how the technology around them works, but to be FORCED TO DEAL with it on a
daily basis is absurd! Any good computer/OS lets you interact with the
hardware and software transparently, without dealing with it's intricacies. By
your philosophy, we shouldn't even use GUIs- because they're just too easy!
Learning about how one's computer functions is up to the user, not the computer!

I, personally, like opening up my PowerMac 8600 and "poking around" and
adding cards, specially since it is so easy to do so.

And what's wrong with integrating the OS & hardware?! What's wrong with
unifying mind and body?! The software should not be totally unrelated to the
hardware. They should be one and work together as one.

The computer is all about automation and making things easier. Please people!!
