ALL those companies are now DEAD except for Apple.

Apple is lagging far behind Wintel because of this mistake.

Luckily, when the move came for 68k to PowerMac, Steve Jobs was
gone and Apple made the sane decision...give the 68k crowd some
5-8 years of transition time before cutting support for the old 68k code.
This way, you are at least giving time to change.

Wintel always made sure that a new unit was compatible with at
least the very previous one, so people upgraded with confidence...
