After you add enough drive space and memory, yup.

A hard drive, 2MB of memory (expandable to 8MB), System 6.0.1
(you know...Finder and stuff...if you are a Wintel only user, the Finder
is like Windows 95 Explorer desktop), and lots of sharewares and
freewares.

Probably AppleWorks Classic and AppleWorks GS. You can get
them both for less than $30 BOTH at Alltech.
Link to Alltech http://www.allelec.com/ and click on "Apple II" then
"Hard Drives" and buy the Focus hard drive for $59. This will get
you the system software (equivalent to Win95 for a Wintel or MacOS
for a Mac) so that it can get up and running...the system software
is preinstalled. Next, you need enough memory for the software to
run, so click on "Memory" and buy a Sirius RAM card. It takes
SIMM modules, 1MB at a time, up to 8MB. The GS needs at least
2MB to be useful, 4MB to be comfortable, and you can always go
to 8MB later. Optionally, click on "Software" to buy AppleWorks
GS and AppleWorks 3.0 for good word processor, DTP, graphics,
database, and spreadsheet integrated software.
The last part is optional. Included in the Focus hard drive is some
freewares and sharewares to get you started.
Price for upgrade? About $100 (without AppleWorks GS and
AppleWorks 3.0).
