    One small problem with that kind of modification is all versions
of ProDOS search for the word "Apple" when loading. If anything else
is found, it will freeze at the ProDOS boot screen.

    Apple did this to discourage people from purchasing illegal Apple 
II clones in the 80's, many of which used identical copies of Apple's
ROM but with their own name ID. As an example, my Apple II clone said
"GOLDEN64" and definitely could not run ProDOS, unless you patched a
couple of bytes in the ProDOS system file. If you only run DOS 3.3,
Pascal or CP/M programs the above would not be a problem, or if you
only changed the "//c" part of name ID (i.e. "Apple // Forever").
