In Western society, you are right. They are CONDITIONED not to be
interested in subjects like math. This is a problem with our society.

Ever wonder why asians do so well in math? No, they are not racially
superior. It is their CULTURE. Being good in math is a badge of
honor for them. In those cultures, boys and girls tend to do equally
well in math. That's why when asian immigrants to the US take the
SAT college entrance exam, both genders tend to ace the math
section. This flies in the face of US studies which cite the SAT as
evidence that boys are better at math than girls...if the subjects are
asian, both genders do equally well and usually much better than
white counterparts.

So are asians superior? No. Those asians born in the USA and
raised by second generation parents reflect the white pattern...
boys do better at math but both genders don't do as well as the
new immigrants from asia.

It is the CULTURE that's the problem.

I will agree that quotas are not the way around it, but something
must be done here or discrimination will hold back people based
on race and gender. The inventor of the COBOL language is a
woman and she says that she had to work twice as hard to prove
to everyone that she knew what she was doing. She should not
have had to prove herself. People should be judge on their merits
without preconceived notions.
