Not a bad rant! Nevertheless, there are some things to consider.

Asimov is a software archive. It's 'business' is to maintain
software for downloading by Apple II users. Asimov believes in its
mission and resists de-listing software. That is what archives are
supposed to do. Were an archive to drop some item every time someone
complained, there would be no worthwhile archives of anything anywhere.

It may be that you and others would like Asimov to de-list Awks 5
or some other product; but, that does not make it correct to engage in
name calling. In any case, you and those with project ideas have no
legal standing. The Law, in fact, backs Asimov.

Asimov has agreed to de-list Awks 5 (or any other piece of
software) should there be a request from the copyright holder.

If you or new Awks project persons want to introduce some upgrade,
your course is clear: contact a copyright holder rep and ask that he/she
take five minutes to send a de-list request to Asimov. If you can not
obtain at least such a minimal level of cooperation from the copyright
owner, one wonders how you expect to get away with selling an
"Appleworks 6.0".

Again, as rants go, yours was fairly good. However, you were not
ranting _on_ anyone, so there will be no new Real Pirate's Badges
awarded.
