Agreed. The few active vendors and programmers which are still supporting
the Apple II gs deserve our help, especially if they are NICE people and
not any dumb two-bit trigger-pumping morons! (nudge, nudge, wink, wink!)
 
Dear Nathan, please tell me how will you deal with the poor sheep who
have strayed from their path and perform piracy because they are poor or
unaware of the legal consequences? Will you unleash the BRUTE FORCE of
the LAWS on them or try to persuade them about the consequences for
innocent programmers and the A2 market? Consider this a rhetorical
question, if you wish...
 
This reminds me of a phrase of Richard "Lord British" Garriott in UltimaV
(A game which really has something to say!) "If virtues are established
by force rather than belief, they immediately lose their virtue". The
greatest treasure in the human destiny is the ability to choose your own
path and do good or evil if you like. Of course,if someone hurts a second
person, this person has the right and duty to defend himself, but no third
person has the right to intervene without being called.
 
Remember, Nathan: I don't endorse or practice active piracy, especially 
of new stuff. My own ftp site is strictly "white", so think twice about
accusing me. I am simply aware of people who want to burn out piracy with
the branding iron.

Congratulations! You have just described Apple Cupertino's product
development strategy. I think the average pirating scum is more
concerned about the future of his system than some of the InfiniDim
guys in the upper management.

Of course! People and companies like Logicware, Odessa Entertainment,
Ninjaforce, Crusading Miser Productions, Dark Castle and others haven't
programmed much stuff due to piracy. Countless Apple II enthusiasts in
the world have not filled the incoming directory of ground up to the brim
with new programs, sounds, fonts, icons, graphics and countless other
stuff because these worthless scum has scared, flamed and insulted them.
There even won't be a a new game on CD Rom for the Apple II gs soon. And
it's all the fault of these miserable pirates who spread an aura of
hate and ignorance in the A2 community...

Ever considered a model with sales of NEW software and piracy of
ancient stuff which is not longer supported by the original publishers?
 
No, I guess not! In a bureaucratic mind, all software is still new
until the publisher reclassifies it (if he is still alive) or until the
hell freezes... In the last decade of broken dreams, I have learned to
understand applied bureaucracy. It gives me a headache just
trying to think down to your level.
 
BTW, Nathan, I would like to offer Pong on my FTP site. Could you please
tell me if Nolan Bushnell has already reclassified it as freeware?
