     Your precautions plus disconnecting the modem are a good idea if
you do not use an Uninterruptible Power Supply with deglitching and a
phone line deglitcher. (Actually, an UPS is nearly a necessity in many
places, just to protect your hard disk during writes.)

     Having a spare GS supply can't hurt, either. Steve's Bugg-Power
units seem to be pretty rugged. If his Bugg-Drives are any indication,
you can hardly lose since you'll get nearly $32 worth of bubble sheet,
rubber bands, and tape along your order.
