Re: You are Here! So: How did you get into Apple II Computing?
For Christmas in 4th grade, I got my Apple IIGS. The best Christmas
presant I ever got. It has been an invaluable tool in doing school work.
Over the years I've upgraded the machine in terms of both hardware and
software. I started with 512K, the upped to 768K, 1280K, and finally
4.25MB. I've added other hardware, and the only thing left on my wish
list is an accelerator, but I'm content with my system the way it is.
I'm not a traitor for using a Mac. Here is a short story I thing all
Apple II users should hear:
I got a new Mac this year because I was going to take programming
courses and thought I'd need a more modern computer. However, the
flowcharting course I just aced used QBASIC, and the Mac can't run that.
But an Apple IIGS with a PC Transporter Card can, so wich computer was
better this semester? :)
I should add I have nine years worth of software for the IIGS but only
SimpleText and ClarisWorks to do papers on the Mac. My IIGS is NOT for
sale at any price. I also have learned to program on my own. I know
BASIC, 6502 family assembly, and Hypertalk. I also learned flowcharting
on my own, but can't bypass the course.
